Amanda Holmes is an Associate Attorney at Carolina Family Estate Planning, where she blends empathy, adaptability, and persistence to help individuals and families navigate some of life’s most meaningful—and often emotional—conversations. With a warm and approachable style, she guides clients through the intricacies of planning for the future, often helping them talk through topics they’ve never addressed before.
Born in Upstate New York, Amanda spent most of her life in North Carolina and proudly calls herself a “North Carolina girl.” She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Presbyterian College and later graduated from Elon University School of Law. Her path to becoming an attorney wasn’t a straight line—before law school, she worked as a store manager and a recruiter, experiences that shaped her ability to connect with people from all walks of life and approach complex situations with clarity and compassion.
Amanda’s commitment to estate planning is deeply personal. She witnessed the emotional toll her family endured during her father’s battle with cancer—made even harder by the absence of a clear care plan. Not long after, her grandmother’s struggle with dementia revealed the limitations of relying on a simple will. Without a Power of Attorney in place, her mother and aunt were forced into a stressful guardianship process that wasn’t finalized before her grandmother passed. Through both experiences, she saw firsthand the peace of mind that thoughtful planning can bring—and the stress that can come without it.
Amanda is active in the Wake County Bar Association, where she serves as co-chair of the Pro Bono board for the Young Lawyers Division. She also volunteers at the Food Bank of Eastern NC and local park cleanups.
Outside the office, Amanda enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including exercise, reading, needlepoint, puzzles, photography, and hosting themed dinner parties. She and her husband Elliott live in Raleigh with their beloved golden doodle, Winnie—who, according to Amanda, is their whole world. While she doesn’t claim to be a die-hard sports fan, she’s always up for a good time when the game is on. She grew up cheering for the Carolina Panthers—her parents were original season ticket holders—and now shares in her husband’s love for the Green Bay Packers. They also enjoy rooting for the NC State Wolfpack and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Her friends would describe her as empathetic, persistent, and adaptable—and when it’s time to unwind, she’s always up for a friendly (but competitive!) game of Backgammon.
