Priceless Conversations – Your Family Legacy

Speaking Heart to Heart

I had a voicemail message from my dad on my cell phone, probably for years after he died, that I would listen to when I missed him. How I wish I still had that voicemail message. Or even better, that I had a recording of my dad telling me what he loved about me, what his hopes and dreams for me were, what life lessons he would have most wanted to teach me, how he would have felt about my children who had not yet been born.

At Carolina Family Estate Planning we know that you want your family to inherit more than just your wealth.  You want to leave your family a gift that will help them to have a better life.

Inheritance focuses primarily on money and property.  Perhaps more importantly, a true legacy transfer has to do with deeper, more lasting issues including memories, lessons and values you have learned over a lifetime.

We believe that each of us have been entrusted with special gifts and talents; over the course of our lives we acquire an abundance of wisdom that needs to be shared and preserved.  In a sense, we are obligated to stand up and share our history, our stories, our values, and our wishes and pass them on to succeeding generations.

Before founding my firm, I used to advise my clients to write out instructions to their appointed guardians about how they wanted their children to be raised, but for one reason or another, no one actually did it.  Now, we can help you make sure you get it done and guide you through it.

At Carolina Family Estate Planning we help the families we serve get past the barriers and take active steps to protect and pass on their legacies because we believe that this can have a profound impact on many lives, even beyond the client’s immediate family, and in ways that we may not have even thought possible.  At the end of the planning process for all of our clients, we deliver your completed plan to you that provides for the care of your children and transfers your financial assets, and then we sit down with you for a Priceless Conversation and ask you a series of questions over about a half an hour or so.  While you have many topics to choose from, often the first conversation is about how you want your children to be raised, and the values you want instilled in them, if something were to happen to you.  We interview you, and we record it to a CD, and that CD becomes the first volume in what we call your Legacy Library.

While most people are a little nervous about the idea at first, I have not met a single person who has not loved creating the Priceless Conversation.  As part of our membership program, clients also have the opportunity to record a new Priceless Conversation each year so they can continue building their Legacy Library.
