Getting Started

How to Get Started

If you want to learn more about protecting your family, we can help. We provide several different places to get started, depending on your current comfort and knowledge level:

Learn More: If you are just getting started, you can find out more about us and what we do by signing up for our email newsletter and reading our blog, or download one our free reports.

Attend a Workshop: Attending a workshop is the best way to learn more about how we work with our clients to protect their families and their wealth. You’ll get to hear more about estate planning while also getting to know us a bit too. All of our workshops are free to attend. Click here for more information and upcoming workshop dates.

Schedule a Peace of Mind Planning Session: By now you’ve seen that Carolina Family Estate Planning is something special, and because you love your family, you know they deserve the kind of protection and guidance we provide. You’ll want to start the process with our Peace of Mind Planning Session. This is a two-hour educational meeting to discuss your goals and planning scenarios available.

Call our office at (919) 443-3035 and talk with Aimee, our Client Services Coordinator, who will schedule the most convenient appointment time available for you. Aimee will explain our process to you in more detail in preparation for your session.

What to Do Prior to Your Peace of Mind Planning Session

Three days after scheduling your appointment, you will receive a priority mailer with your Estate Planning Worksheet and other important information that you will need to review prior to your Peace of Mind Planning Session. We will tailor the Peace of Mind Planning Session to specifically discuss your family’s needs.  For that reason, we need you to return your completed Estate Planning Worksheet to our office one week prior to your appointment, by mail, fax or email, or we will need to reschedule your appointment. Of course, you can call the office (without worrying about being billed for it!) at any time if you need assistance completing your worksheet, or if you have any questions at all. This is just another way we’re different from other law firms you may have worked with in the past.

If you have existing estate planning documents, please make sure we receive those documents in our office at least one week prior to your meetings so we can review them for your personalized session.

What to Expect the Day of Your Peace of Mind Planning Session

On the day of your meeting, you should expect to spend 2 hours with our office. The initial meeting has two purposes:

  1. To educate you about the law and what would happen if you died with your current plan (or no plan) in place.
  2. To identify whether there is a good fit between you and the firm.

While looking at what would happen under your current plan, we’ll ask you to identify what you would want to happen differently, and we’ll discuss the options available to meet your goals.

If there is a good fit between your family and our firm, and if we can assist you with the specific goals you identify, we will discuss the fees and payment options for a personalized plan that takes your unique needs into account, and we’ll schedule your design meeting.
